Sometimes, protection is more than a service, it is an urgent response that can change the course of an entire family’s future.
Recently, the Protection Sector at CVC Charity responded to a high-risk case involving severe domestic violence, gender-based violence (GBV), and significant child protection concerns. Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the need to preserve the privacy and safety of those involved, specific details cannot be disclosed.
The family was living in circumstances that posed serious risks to their safety, stability, and well-being. The children were continuously exposed to an environment marked by fear, distress, and violence, requiring immediate and coordinated intervention.
Upon receiving the referral, CVC Charity’s Protection Team immediately classified the case as a top priority and launched intensive coordination efforts with legal institutions and relevant authorities. Every action was guided by one principle: ensuring the safety, rights, and best interests of the children.
Despite significant legal complexities and procedural challenges, the team worked tirelessly to mobilize the necessary support and facilitate urgent action. Within just two days, coordinated efforts led to the completion of the required legal procedures, resulting in a solution that placed the children’s protection above all other considerations.
As a result, the children were safely returned to the care of their mother, who was identified through the appropriate legal process as the safest and most stable caregiver. The necessary legal arrangements were established to support their continued protection and safeguard their rights moving forward.
This outcome was not the result of a single intervention, but of dedicated case management, persistent advocacy, close coordination with relevant institutions, and an unwavering commitment to child protection principles. It demonstrates the importance of timely, specialized protection services and effective collaboration between humanitarian and legal actors. Gabrielle Khazzaka, Protection Officer at CVC Charity, stated:
“At CVC Charity, we believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe and protective environment where their rights and dignity are respected. While many of the most important protection successes cannot be fully shared due to confidentiality obligations, their impact is profound and life-changing.”
Beyond this case, Gabrielle has worked closely with numerous vulnerable women and children across different communities, supporting survivors of abuse and violence through case management and Psychosocial Support activities. Through individual follow ups, awareness sessions, and psychosocial support interventions, she has witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by those at risk and the transformative impact that timely protection services can have on their lives.
Behind every confidential case is a child given another chance at safety, a family supported through crisis, and a future made possible through timely intervention and collective action.
